eric nadelstern, a hero, my hero -the third in a series

Watch collector, husband of a quilter, Eric is a designer as a Steven Jobs designed. He redesigned NYC schools. In 2003 Eric asked me to lead a high school in NYC. Before that I didn’t liked him. He seemed to think that he was the smartest guy in the room; then, after working with him, alongside him, I realized he may not have been the smartest, but he was pretty damn close. But more importantly for me, he loved people. The last week he was on the job he came by to speak to me, along, no entourage. Just him. At scanning the security asked him who he was?
He was, is, a passionate creator who cared more about children, people than I could imagine.
Passion trumps intelligence; it is character. A, my hero-flawed-heroically for people.

allen iverson, AI, my hero

so, I have just returned from a time in Jerusalem. (more on this in later blogs)
I always wear my Georgetown Allen Iverson jersey when I travel? Why? Black. Short sleeve and V neck. It is super comfortable with the added bonus of Allen being one of my heros. He left nothing on the floor; all in. I adored him. Yep, he blew a fortune, but his loyality to his home boys is, was, worth more than £££. At least to me. In Jerusalem I ran into some people (this is for you Midge) who could not understand why he was a/my ‘hero.’ To them, he wasted his talented and ‘could have been.’
He was. Who cares about ‘could haves?’ He was. In closing, when I walk through Airport terminals the scanning people always yell at me ‘practice?!! practice?’ They get it. All in; every moment is game. Never practice.
