from Acts 14 today
proclaiming: what is the essence of biblical proclamation? Proclaiming ? Acts 14:7 has Saul and his companions ‘ that there they were proclaiming good news’- YLT. Saul was making; forming a ‘claim.’-Jesus is The Messiah.
Acts 14:1 -2 opens with Luke’s description of responses:-‘And it came to pass in Iconium, that they did enter together into the synagogue of the Jews, and spake, so that there believed both of Jews and Greeks a great multitude;
2 and the unbelieving Jews did stir up and made evil the souls of the nations against the brethren;’ YLT
The essence of Biblical proclaiming in responses: people hear the claim about Jesus and they stir up ‘evil the souls of nations’
Biblical proclaiming can not be ignored; it is felt, heard and touches souls of listeners and viewers. All must respond, with love or evil; empathy or hardness of spirits and hearts.
only His word can soften; only His word can harden. The highest fore both melts and hardens: as, so does his word.
Jeremiah (20:9) describes The Word in his heart as, ‘But if I say, “I will not mention his word
or speak anymore in his name,”
his word is in my heart like a fire,
a fire shut up in my bones.
I am weary of holding it in;
indeed, I cannot.’
His Word proclaimed, fire.
turn me to fire, your fire my Lord; fire
