To me Advent means imminent and sure like the coming of the Lord Jesus. It is a wonder because the world goes on as if Christ will never come. But He says surely I come quickly amen!
Even so come Lord Jesus! His coming will definitely be wonderful.
It is a wonder because Jesus was the most generous gift ever given to us – such amazing love that the Creator could live among us as the created and die for us that we who deserve to die should live.
Advent is a wonder to me because the Son of God became T-H-E Christ so that I can be I-N Christ.
I’ve a two-fold Advent Wonder to submit. It is that 1) I might be called to remember how I am, to the core, such an oaf as to forget the wonderful, ordering relationship I’ve with Jesus, Himself and, therefore, how deeply in need of it I am; and 2) that such a hopeful dialogue, one set apart from and above accecpted systems of worldly knowledge, one so subtle and complex and ultimately rewarding, should even exist and continue to surprise and fulfill.
